Hal Wulff is set and ready to hit the road again, in search of adventure. After trying two times before, he’s aiming to reach an undiscovered Mayan temple in deep Belize jungle.
Last November Hal stretched his luck dealing with dehydration, muscle cramps and 24 hours of being lost in the heaviest jungle. This bad experience has not affected his will and, with the use of satellite images, he’s going for his third attempt; this time he’ll be assisted by his 16 years old daughter, Kalia (Jungirl).
Frugal Science will be documenting this attempt and will post periodic news about Hal’s exploration – and what he finds there – which will take place this April. Following is a micro interview we had with the explorer regarding the endeavor.
FS: Why is it important to find this temple?
HW: The actual importance of this specific temple is unknown, which makes it appealing. Never fear the unknown. Instead, seek it out. I have already found numerous pre Columbian items such as necklaces etc. Locating this temple would be my best “find” yet. The thrill of finding a dime makes you want to find a quarter.
FS: You tried two times to find the ruins before. Why do you think you will be successful this time?
HW: I always think that I will succeed. A positive attitude is a must. Besides, my successes in the past verify my optimism.
FS: How do you prepare for an endeavor like this one?
HW: Research and look for the odd spot.
FS: Which is your favorite exploration tool?
HW: It usually depends on the terrain. But this is an easy one to answer. A staff wins this one by a mile.
FS: Are you accepting fellow explorers in your exploration? What requirement should she/he have?
HW: Fellow explorers are always welcome. The second part of this question is too complex for me to get into right now. However, one thing all true explorers need is the willingness to cross “the edge”. It is a point in time when everything that you have done in the past becomes meaningless. And your future is worth nothing…UNLESS you get through the one point in time. This very moment.
We wish Hal and Jungirl the best of luck.
PS: If you are an explorer and wish to take part of the exploration, you should make contact with him soon.

I am so thrilled that I found your blog and I look forward to reading more! THis is a fascinating post.
I’m fascinated by the cultures of Central America. What do you do with the artifacts you find? How do you work with the local people?
A quest… how climactic!
Wish him (and his daughter) great success from me.
Thank you Rebecca, Amy, Charlotte and Roy, for your comments and support.
My daughter and myself appreciate your support. We are both greatly looking forward to this adventure. Best wishes to all. Hal, Kaila (jungirl)

Hello, we are safely back. It was quite an adventure. Of course the unexpected happened. (We expected that.) We did bring back some pictures and would have brought more, but at one point survival became more important. If anyone has any questions for Kaila or myself, we would welcome them. Thank you all for sharing our in our interest. Take care. Hal, Kaila Wulff
